Our mutual love for sports and the city of Atlanta is how our worlds collided. Callie had just moved back to Atlanta from Florida a few months prior when a mutual friend (groomsman Craig Isner) invited her to an Atlanta United tailgate—one that Brandon just so happened to be hosting.
Since it was Father’s Day weekend, Brandon’s Dad was in town to join the fun. After a great tailgate and an Atlanta United win, Callie sneakily asked for Brandon’s number under the guise of 'sending a picture' of him and his dad together. Brandon texted Callie the next day to ask her on their first official date to their favorite Atlanta spot, The Optimist. The rest is history!
Callie and Brandon were headed to spend Labor Day weekend with Callie’s family on Cousins Island, Maine. They arrived on a late-night Friday flight from Atlanta with plans to go to lunch to celebrate Callie’s mother’s birthday on Saturday.
Saturday morning, Callie was roaming around the house and outside, looking at the new landscaping and dock repairs in her pajamas, with wet hair, taking her sweet time getting ready for lunch. She could tell that everyone but Brandon was getting antsy about her nonchalant timing, so she went to get ready.
Her mother asked her to go take pictures in the backyard. Alyssa, Callie’s sister, was taking photos when Brandon dropped to one knee and asked Callie to spend forever with him. She said yes! (Obviously!) While Callie had mentioned that it might make sense for Brandon to propose that weekend, she was completely caught off guard and surprised—which is very, very hard to do.
Mom’s birthday lunch turned into Callie and Brandon’s Engagement lunch where Callie’s best friend, Natalie, surprised her. *Cue happy tears*
The rest of the weekend was an after party with slushies at Aprés, lobster bake with family & friends, lobster rolls at Allagash, oyster farm boat tour and a lot of dock time with Callie’s family dog, Zola. Oh and champagne, of course.
